The Half the Sky Movement grew out of Pulitzer Prize-winner journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn’s book, “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide,” written about the oppression of women and girls in the developing world. Specifically, the book focuses on the real stories of women throughout the world who have endured slavery today but eventually achieved hope and empowerment. The Half the Sky Movement is a call to action to others to help share these stories of empowerment.
Join the movement by reading the book, hosting a screening of the documentary, playing their interactive awareness games online, volunteering with partner NGOs, or visiting their website at halftheskymovement.org.
