This week, the Polaris Project released the 2017 Human Trafficking Hotline Statistics. The information is provided by the National Human Trafficking Hotline and BeFree Textline, providers who offer support in a variety of options to help victims and keep them safe.
In total, there were 8,759 cases of human trafficking reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline and BeeFree Texline in 2017. This was a 12% increase from 2016, according to the Polaris Project. In total, the new estimates put the cases reported to 40,987 since the Hotline’s creation in 2007.
