Bandungwangi Foundation

History

Bandungwangi is the only Non Governmental Organization (NGO) non-profit in Indonesia from and to the benefit of Female Sex Workers (PSP). Bandungwangi history began in 1995 as an informal group of PSP with a concern for reproductive health problems including HIV / AIDS among PSP. In 1999 this group was legalized be a foundation that gives clear foundation for its members to speak out and help other PSP. Until now Bandungwangi always trying to strengthen the quality of services that can be provided in order to answer the needs of PSP both at the national and Jakarta.

Mission

  • Actively assist the government in empowering women and girls working in prostitution through outreach, advocacy, education, training, examination, and economic development
  • In cooperation with the government and other organizations to address the problems of women and girls in reproductive health, sexual rights and gender equality

Vision

Indonesian women Healthy, Prosperous, and Without Discrimination

  • Healthy: 1) changes in health behavior, 2) understanding of reproductive and sexual rights
  • Prosperous: 1) has another job, 2) able to get out of prostitution, 3) freedom from sexual exploitation
  • Without discrimination: 1) there is no difference, 2) elimination of stigma and discrimination 3) protection and enforcement
