History

Since 1878, The Family Partnership (formerly Family & Children's Service) has given help and hope to more than one million people. We began under the Minneapolis Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as the branch which protected children and women from abuse during a time when more protection was given to neglected animals than abused children and women. Although the services we offer have changed over the years, we have never strayed from our commitment to help improve the lives of our community's most vulnerable children and families.

In 2010, The Family Partnership changed their name for the first time in 65 years. The change was done to reflect our long-held value of working together to solve problems and create healthy and safe neighborhoods. The current name also underscores our belief that we do not do our work alone, but with other organizations, schools, community groups, and caring individuals, who share our goal to make the Twin Cities a great place for every child and family.

On January 1, 2011, The Family Partnership merged with Reuben Lindh Family Services. With six locations, including two nationally accredited early child hood centers/preschools, we are truly better together.
